Common Mantras And Bhajans

What is a Mantra?

A mantra is a sacred utterance, a sound, a syllable, word or group of words in Sanskrit believed by practitioners to have psychological and spiritual powers. Mantra meditation helps to induce an altered state of consciousness.

The word "mantra" is derived from two Sanskrit words: man, which means "mind," and tra, which means "tool" or "instrument." A mantra is therefore an "instrument of the mind"—a powerful sound or vibration that you can use to enter a deep state of meditation.

Each mantra has a specific vibration and purpose, from invoking peace and removing obstacles to attracting prosperity and fostering enlightenment. Chanting them helps to focus the mind, calm the nervous system, and connect with a higher consciousness.
